Department of Social Sciences
Scientific Profile

The Department of social sciences organizes scientific research covering a broad range from philosophy to very concrete empirical investigation of ethnographic and demographic character.

At the present time philosophers mostly deal with critical analysis of modern social thought among Serbs, including history of Serbian philosophy in 19th and 20th century.

In the field of law the focus is on the study of sources and on foreign influences on Serbian law. There is an interdisciplinary study on human rights and national minorities.

Economists organize scientific conferences once a year, which are concerned with strategic problems of Yugoslav economic development.

Among of the most active groups are demographists who have a number of projects studying population changes, migrations, family planning and population policies.
