The Regular Meeting of CEEN In Podgorica on October 10th and 11th 2008

The regular meeting of the Network of the Academies of Sciences and Arts of Central and Eastern Europe – (Central and East European Network – CEEN) is held in Podgorica on October 10th and 11th October 2008.

Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts is represented at the meeting by the President of SASA, Academician Nikola Hajdin and the Vice-president of SASA, Academician Ljubisav Rakić.

The meeting will be opened by the Montenegro's Prime Minister Milo Đukanović, who is the sponsor of the meeting, and who will participate at the meeting as well.

The meeting titled "The role of the National Academies in the 21st Century" will include the discussions on topics that holds crucial prominence for a sustainable and uniform development of a society that should be governed by the development of science and culture. The representatives of the regional Academies will deliver lectures on the following topics: Academies and Science, Academies and Exceptionality, Academies and the Young, Academies and Politics, Integrity of the Academies.

Adoption of the Podgorica Declaration is scheduled for the end of the Meeting. The organizers of the meeting are: Inter-Academic Panel, European Academy of Sciences and Arts, Department of Southeastern Europe of the World Academy of Arts and Sciences, CEEN, Inter-Academic Council of the Southeastern Europe, and Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Membership of CEEN involves the national academies from Albania, Azerbaijan, Austria, Bulgarian, Georgia, Greece, Estonia, Armenia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Croatia, Montenegro and Czech Republic.
