ANNOUNCEMENT BY THE SERBIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES AND ART REGARDING THE ADVISORY OPINION OF THE INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE IN HAGUE

The Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice in Hague is yet another confirmation that politics are above law and justice.
The International Court of Justice avoided issuing a legal response to the basic issue of the right to declaration of independence by the Albanians in Kosovo and Metohija, thereby violating Serbia's sovereignty.
Instead of taking the responsibility the Court only interpreted the Declaration of Independence and by switching things around avoided to decide in line with the effective international laws.

The Academy will continue to support the official position of the Serbian Government and will attempt, as it had been doing until now, to point out by undisputable arguments, the historical absurdity of creating new states in the territory that had belonged to the Serbian peoples since the early medieval times.

We are left with the hope that the numerous allies and friends will continue to support Serbia in its efforts to preserve its sovereignty and national integrity.
