ON THE OCCASION OF THE “SIGILLO D'ORO” PRIZE AWARDED TO ACADEMICIAN VOJISLAV STANOVČIĆ

Academician Vojislav Stanovčić is this year's winner of the award of the City of Palermo, “Sigillo d'Oro” (Golden Seal). The topic of this year's competition was “Cultura demo-etno-antropologica.” Academician Stanovčić has been managing for many years two projects within the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts which are related to the topic of the competition, he has published more than 35 works, predominantly in English just as in other foreign language, that deal with multi-culturality, multi-ethnical and multi-religious societies as well as legal and constitutional frameworks appropriate for such societies and other prerequisites and conditions for co-existence of diverse ethnic groups.
The gold medal carrying the seal of the City of Palermo has been awarded by the International Institute for Ethnology, upon decision of the international jury, for the eighteenth time. The decision was made on November 19, and the “Sigillo d'Oro” will be festively awarded today 23rd November 2010. On this occasion academician Stanovčić will deliver the lecture titled “Problems in Multiethnic Societies – How to Live Together”.
