On January 10, 2012 after half a century, Serbia again became a member of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). The admission was signed, on behalf of Serbia, by its President Boris Tadic.

Serbian scientists will be offered an opportunity to take part in experiments and scientific research at CERN together with 8,000 scientists from around the world.

Serbia was granted a status of an associate member what represents a step towards the full membership at this prestigious scientific organization.
