Participation of the SASA Delegation at the General Assembly of ALLEA

The regular annual General Assembly of All European Academies (ALLEA) will be held from 16 - 18 April.

The General Assembly will be held at the Institute of Spain and will be opened by HRH Spanish Queen Sofia with a video address by the European Commissioner for Science Janez Potočnik.

The Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts is a member of this prestigious association and will be represented in Madrid by the SASA President, Academician Nikola Hajdin and the corresponding member Ljubomir Maksimović, who will take part in the First Session dealing with history, culture and environment.

The academicians from all European countries will discuss at the four anticipated sessions history, culture, ALLEA's role in the European research area, participation in humanities and social sciences in the European research area, potential research in human resources and will present two ALLEA Committee reports related to science and ethics and intellectual property.

The SASA status in this prestigious association has been dormant throughout the nineties in order to be reactivated at the General Assembly held in March 2007 in Brussels.

The Serbian scientists have been thereby provided with open doors for cooperation to all European Academies, which implies an exchange of researchers and scientists and their work at the European laboratories and research centers.
