Digital collection of medieval manuscripts

A digitalization of 370 Serbian medieval manuscripts and books in the holdings of the National Library of Russia in Saint Petersburg was recently completed by this institution in keeping with the agreement on cooperation between the Library and the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts signed in April of 2017.

Owing to the realization of this complex project, an important segment of the Serbian cultural and historical heritage will finally become accessible to a large number of people interested in the material, not only in Serbia, but worldwide.

On account of this, Director General of the National Library of Russia Alexander Ivanovich Visliy will be visiting the Serbian Academy of Sciences of Arts and, on Monday, May 14, present the said digitalized collection of manuscripts and books to SASA President Vladimir S. Kostić at a special ceremony.

This undertaking of highest importance for Serbian science and culture has been realized thanks to the support of the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Foundation, whose founder is the honorary consul of the Republic of Serbia in Saint Petersburg, Mr. Gennady Nikolayevich Timchenko.

The SASA Executive Council has decided to present a Charter and Plaque to the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Foundation as tokens of gratitude for its assistance in the realization of this important project.
