As part of the 16th International Congress of Slavists, the exhibition, Serbian Lexicography from Vuk to the Present Day, authored by Prof. Rajna Dragićević and Nenad Ivanović, PhD, opened at the SASA Gallery of Science and Technology on Monday, Aug. 20. The guests at the opening ceremony were addressed by Academician Vladimir S. Kostić, SASA President, Corresponding Member Slobodan Milosavljević, President of the Advisory Board of the SASA Gallery of Science and Technology,  and the authors of the exhibition, whereas Academician Predrag Piper, Secretary of the SASA Department of Language and Literature and reviewer of the catalogue, had the honor of opening the exhibition.

The exhibition, Serbian Lexicography from Vuk to the Present Day, marks two hundred years since the publication of the first edition of Српски рјечник (A Serbian Dictionary) by Vuk Stefanović Karadžić. It also represents an attempt to draw the attention of the public to the significance of Serbian dictionaries as treasure troves of the lexical wealth of the Serbian language and ethnographic and culture-related information on the history of the Serbian people. Its goal is also to acquaint foreign Slavists with the development of lexicographic ideas and concepts in Serbian linguistics of the 19th and 20th centuries.
