EXHIBITION ‘CENTAUR DRAWINGS’ AT THE SASA GALLERY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

The exhibition titled ‘Centaur Drawings’, authored by Uroš Krčedinac, PhD, a digital arts and computing professor, was opened at the SASA Gallery of Science and Technology, on 11 September. The associates on the exhibition realization are Andrej Alfirević and Željko Petrović.

Inspired by the concept of ‘Centaur Chess,’ which Garry Kasparov introduced, the author showcases algorithm works which were created through centaur processes, by a combination of author-artist’s work and artificial intelligence algorithm. The focus will be on abstract line drawings, which can also be interpreted as a form of graphic asemic writing.

The anchor of the exhibition is a pen-plotter, a drawing robot with several motors and pens, which will make drawings as a performance. The plotter will be programmed to produce movements in real time, while visitors are at the Gallery. Furthermore, the panels will provide a textual explanation of the use of artificial intelligence in artistic work.

The exhibition is open to visitors at the SASA Gallery of Science and Technology until 30 September.
