Lazar Trifunović Prize Awarded to Authors of Texts on Kun
The 2024 Lazar Trifunović Prize was awarded to Dr Vida Knežević and Ana Panić for their contributions to the accompanying catalogue of the exhibition ’Kun: Artist-Worker-Fighter’organized at the SASA Gallery to mark the 120th anniversary of the birth of the distinguished Yugoslav artists Đorđe Andrejević Kun.
The prize ceremony took place on 14 January at the Artget Gallery of the Belgrade Cultural Centre. The exhibition, which ran from 11 June to 18 September 2024, was a collaboration between the SASA Gallery, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, and the Museum of Yugoslavia. It was the first retrospective of Kun’s artistic legacy in 50 years.
The panel of judges pointed out that Dr Vida Knežević’s piece ’Art is Art Only When it is not Art’ and Ana Panić’s essay ’ What Does Kun Represent to Us Nowadays? Public Work in the Context of Time was the result of systematic research work which re-actualized the creative and conceptual foundations of one of the most significant protagonists on the local artistic, cultural and social scene.
