Popular campaign ’Brain Awareness Week 2025’
As part of the international popular campaign ’Brain Awareness Week 2025’, the exhibition ’Playful Minds: How Play Shapes the Brain’ will take place in the period from 10 to 14 March at the SASA Gallery of Science and Technology. The organizer of the event is the Serbian Neuroscience Society Students Section.
The exhibition is a part of the eponymous international scientific campaign, which is being organized in line with the ones in European countries, where this event has been featured for several years.
The Brain Awareness Week is a science campaign aiming at drawing the public’s attention to advancements and possible applications of scientifically proven findings on the nervous system. The initiative was launched by DANA Alliance for Brain Initiatives in 1996 and since then this popular campaign has been bringing together scientific organizations across the globe. The event takes place in collaboration with universities, scientific institutions, cultural and art centres.
This year’s campaign under the moto ’Playful Minds: How Play Shapes the Brain’ focuses on the phenomenon of play observed from various perspectives: examining it from biological mechanisms in the play foundations and evolutionary role of play in both humans and animals to medical and psychological relevance as a type of therapy and its broader significance as a developmental phenomenon.
In addition to the exhibition, the SASA Gallery of Science and Technology will host expert lectures, workshops and interactive programmes.
