PROTECTION, PRESERVATION AND AFFIRMATION OF THE SERBIAN CULTURAL HERITAGE IN KOSOVO AND METOHIJA
A two-day scientific conference ’Protection, Preservation and Affirmation of the Serbian Cultural Heritage in Kosovo and Metohija’ is to open at the SASA Grand Hall, on Tuesday, 1 June, at 10 a.m. This event is dedicated to establishing and analyzing the current state of the Serbian cultural heritage in the above-mentioned region, both tangible and intangible, recognizing long-term threats to its survival, forms of its endangerment, dispute and fabrication of its national identity and determining the necessary scientific and professional conditions (infrastructure, organizational, technical and personnel) for its study, record-keeping, presentation, affirmation and preservation.
In the separate, final thematic session of the conference, legal and political issues related to the Serbian cultural heritage will be examined and achievable and sustainable status models that can provide a valid legal framework will be offered so as to appropriately protect the identity and preserve Serbian cultural heritage in various possible solutions of Kosovo and Metohija’s political status.
The participation in the conference has been confirmed by 37 prominent experts in the field of heritage science, protection of heritage monuments, historical sciences, ethnology, linguistics and legal sciences. By the end of 2021, proceedings from the papers presented at the scientific conference are planned to be published.
