Round table ‘Education for Safe Agricultural Practices’
The round table titled ‘Education for Safe Agricultural Practices,’ organized by the SASA Board for Rural Issues, will take place on Friday, 20 September, at 10 a.m. at the SASA Grand Hall.
Given the substantial number of individuals formally or informally involved in agriculture, the current state of agricultural mechanization, the rates and gravity of injuries sustained in agricultural work, as well as the overall expenses incurred by them, the necessity of addressing these issues through education for safe and healthy agricultural practices has to be recognized.
In 2016, the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts organized a scientific conference ‘Education for Modern Agriculture’ at the Academy of Vocational Studies – Agricultural Department in Šabac. During this event, the conclusion was reached that within Serbia’s educational system, programs designed to train agricultural personnel severely lacked sufficient instruction on safety and health at work. Unfortunately, no significant progress in education in this area has been made for the past eight years.
This round table aims to draw attention to the inadequate education in this area at all educational levels, through the presentation of the current state of affairs in the field of education for safe and healthy practices in agriculture. The event seeks to propose solutions for the continuous improvement of education for safe and healthy work in agriculture at all levels of the educational process based on the observed problems.
