Round table ’Inclusion of Roma in Serbia – Challenges in Terms of Data’

The round table on the inclusion of the Roma people in Serbia, organized by the SASA Board for the Study of Life and Customs of the Roma, is to be held at the SASA Grand Hall, on Friday, 18 June, at 11 a.m.

The process of social inclusion of Roma men and women in Serbia, as defined by a 2016 strategical document of the Government, is of vital social interest because it is a medium to combat poverty and discrimination whose suppression is important for exercising individual as well as collective and identity rights of the members of the Roma national minority in Serbia. This process has a regional and international character, particularly if related to the accession of the country and other countries in the region to the European Union.

The SASA Board for the Study of Life and Customs of the Roma has analysed various aspects of this process for years. The round table itself, ’Inclusion of Roma in Serbia – Challenges in Terms of Data’ is organized with a goal of spreading knowledge on this topic so the inclusion of Roma men and women can be achieved in the best social interest without any consequences to the identity of the group.

Live streaming of the symposium is available at the SASA website https://www.sanu.ac.rs/direktan-prenos/.
