In cooperation with the SASA Institute for Mathematics, the Belgrade Faculty of Mathematics, and the respective Niš, Novi Sad and Kragujevac Faculties of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts is organizing an exhibition to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mihailo Petrović Alas (1868-1943), titled Mihailo Petrović Alas: The Progenitor of the Serbian School of Mathematics. The authors of the exhibition are Žarko Mijajlović, Marija Šegan Radonjić and Stevan Mićić, and the co-author is Maja Novaković. The grand opening of the exhibition is scheduled for Tuesday, May 15, at 7 p.m. and the venue is the SASA Gallery.

This is one of the most significant events within the framework of the celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great mathematician, academician and founder of the Serbian school of mathematics. The exhibition will showcase the most important works by and details from the rather interesting and unconventional life of Mihailo Petrović.

During the exhibition, a number of accompanying events will be held. There will be guided tours every day at 1 and 7 p.m., except Thursdays, when it will only be at 1 p.m., and Mondays, when the Gallery is closed to the public. The working hours of the Gallery are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free.
