Exhibition opening ’Starring Miodrag Tabački – On the Occasion of 50 Years of his Work’

The exhibition titled ’Starring Miodrag Tabački – On the occasion of 50 years of his work’ is to open at the SASA Gallery of Science and Technology, on Tuesday, 4 April, at 6 p.m. Academician Vladimir S. Kostić will open the exhibition.

The exhibition gives an overview of the most prominent results of the work of our renowned set and costume designer, professor and SASA corresponding member. This exceptional artist is the author of more than 300 sets and 100 costumes for plays, ballets, operas and puppet shows, performed in Serbia, ex-Yugoslavia and abroad. He is a recipient of numerous awards and is the only Serbian artist featured in the World Encyclopedia of the Spectacle Art of the Second Half of the 20th Century.

Fifty panels, each representing a year of Miodrag Tabački’s opus, offer photographs of the work process, sets and costumes being brought to life, as well as documents on pedagogical activities, exhibitions, awards and recognitions. Art pieces such as drawings and paintings are also on display, and as an accompanying part of the exhibition, visitors will get the chance to see videos of past theatre performances.

During the exhibition, a lecture from the series titled ’Encounters with Creators – Masterclass’ will be organized at the SASA Grand Hall, on Wednesday, 12 April, when SASA Corresponding Member Miodrag Tabački will introduce himself, while a scientific conference titled ’Scene Artist – Miodrag Tabački: from Avant-Garde to Baroque and Back Again’ is to be held at the SASA Grand Hall, on Wednesday, 19 April.
