Membership of SASA: Department of Literature and Language; corresponding member from 14 June 1955; full member from 30 January 1958; SASA secretary from 15 April 1960 until 21 December 1961; SASA vice-president from 21 December 1961 until 4 November 1965; SASA president from 4 November 1965 until 16 December 1971; president of the Council of Yugoslav academies of sciences and arts (1969)
