1879.
  21 April Josif Pančić presented his paper on the first meteorite observed in Serbia, titled: Soko Banja – the First Meteorite in Serbia. (Gl. SUD 48 (1880) 241-272).
24 June President Pančić highlighted the tasks of the Society in his speech: studying and advancing the sciences and arts, particularly those related to Serbdom. The Assembly decided to appoint a permanent secretary of the Society. ( Gl. SUD 49 (1881) 398-408).

22 March The Society decided that its members should join  a scientific expedition organized by the Imperator Russian Geographical Society conducted in the Balkans. (Gl. SUD 53 (1883) 245).
  13 September Đorđe Krstić, a Prince’s scholar, brought several paintings to the Society. It was decided that they should be displayed in order to support the young artist and cultivate artistic taste.

9 March The Law on the National Library and the National Museum was published.
1883.
5 January The article titled ‘Serbian Genealogies and Chronicles’ by Ljubomir Stojanović was accepted for publication. Đuro Daničić bequeathed to the Society the publishing rights to his literary works ‘which have not been expressly assigned to others’. (Gl. SUD 52 (1883), 297).

On the proposal of 15 members, the Management decided to establish the fifth ‘Board for the Promotion of Science and Literature among the People.’ (Gl. SUD 54 (1883) 268-269; The Strategy of the Fifth Board: 283-285).
24 – 26 April Gavrilo VItković organised an exhibition of historical and art monuments of the Serbs in Hungary, which he had collected in the period between 1870 and 1882. (Gl. SUD 54 (1883) 54, 289, 294).
3 May Minister of Education and Church Affairs Stojan Novaković announced that the state funding  for the Society had been discontinued due to unlawful funding of ‘the fifth board.’ (Gl. SUD 54 (1883) 296-298).
25 May Jovan Žujović presented his treatise titled: Materials for the Geoalogy of the Kingdom of Serbia (Gl. SUD 55 (1884) 164-282).
