About the most recent research in the field of food analysis

An international scientific gathering FOOD AND ENVIRONMENTAL – OMICS, dedicated to the most recent research in the field of food analysis, will be open at the SASA Grand Hall, on Thursday, 20 June, at 9.30 a.m.

On that occasion, a project ‘Twinning of research activities for the frontier research in the fields of food, nutrition and environmental ‘omics – FoodEnTwin ’, funded by the European Union and realized within its research and innovation programme Horizon 2020 (since 2018) will be presented. The gathering is organized under the patronage of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, while the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Belgrade is the organizer.

The objective of the project is formation of European research network of the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Belgrade and its Centre for Molecular Food Sciences (Centre of research excellence) on one side, and four eminent institutes from Sweden, Austria and Belgium on the other side. This network will promote scientific excellence and increase visibility and technological capacity for innovation of the Faculty of Chemistry and its partners, as well as enable frontier research in the field of food, agriculture, chemistry and environmental sciences by infusion of –omics technologies (proteomics, lipidomics, transcriptomics, allergomics and metallomics) and experimental animal models. Leading international researchers in the field of food and protection of environment, protein modification, lipids and DNA of food, health effects of food component modification, new in vitro and animal models for prediction of stress effects in the surroundings are scheduled to participate.

As part of the same project, a summer school and a workshop hosting 20 foreign students will be organized from 17 – 21 June, at the Faculty of Chemistry in Belgrade.
