200th anniversary of the birth of Vraćevšnica priest and education benefactor

The exhibition dedicated to Bishop Vićentije Krasojević represents the most important aspects of this priest and benefactor’s life and work, along with the historical, political, social, and cultural context of his time.
The display includes photographs, letters and personal paraphernalia of bishop Vićentija Krasojević. The visitors will get the opportunity to to learn about his life and work at Vraćevšnica Monastery where he founded a picture gallery and set up a library which thanks to him became one of the most valuable collections in Serbia. It is interesting to mention that the impressive gallery’s part consisted of Đura Jakšić’s works, who was invited to spend time at the monastery and painted portraits of all Serbian rulers and historical compositions from the First and Second Serbian Uprising.
Additionally, his benefactor and patron work will also be featured, advancement within church monarchy, as well as his ties to the Obrenović dynasty, particularly to Princ Mihailo and Princ Miloš Obrenović.
