Concert on the occasion of 100 years since the birth of Ludmila Frajt

The Board for the Protection of the Serbian Musical Heritage of SASA marks 100 years since the birth of one of the most original Serbian musical creators, composer Ludmila Frajt (1919-1999), with a concert which will be held at the SASA Gallery, on Monday, 18 November, at 6 p.m. The concert will feature the performances of our finest artists, such as soprano Katarina Jovanović, baritone Vasa Stajkić, choir Collegium musicum, with the conductor Dragana V. Jovanović, etc.

The daughter of Jovan Frajt, the most significant Serbian interwar musical publisher, and a student of the great Josip Slavenski, Ludmila Frajt created an exciting and unparalleled synthesis of the elements of the pagan musical tradition of the Balkans with contemporary composition techniques in her lyrical and deeply emotional music, the synthesis which has been unique in the entire world musical heritage of the second half of the 20th century.

With the commitment of Academician Isidora Žebeljan, the president of the SASA Board for the Protection of the Serbian Musical Heritage, Ludmila Frajt’s collected works found a publisher in Germany.

The Board for the Protection of the Serbian Musical Heritage of SASA, in cooperation with MASCOM records, will publish CD with the music of this extraordinary composer sometime in 2020. It will be the 10th edition of the Board, the edition which presents the best and most original works of the Serbian music to the world audience.
