Conference ‘Advances in Solid State Physics and New Materials’

The Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Institute of Physics Belgrade are organising the prestigious scientific conference titled ‘Advances in Solid State Physics and New Materials’ to be held from 19 to 23 May at the SASA Grand Hall.

The conference focuses on recent breakthroughs and findings in the field of solid state physics and new materials, and it is being organised to commemorate an important anniversary. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the foundation of the Centre for the Solid State Physics and New Materials, which Academician Zoran Popović established together with his associates as a globally recognised centre. The physicists from around the world and domestic researchers will present and discuss various models, experiments, methodologies, and techniques in this dynamic area of physics.

The conference, organised within the European ERA-Chair project HIP-2D-QM, opens on Monday, 19 May, at 9:30 a.m. A special colloquium—a popular lecture open to the general public—will take place on Wednesday, 21 May, at 4 p.m., featuring American physicist Peter Hirschfield, PhD, who will speak on the fascinating history of superconductivity.
