Expert panel ‘National and International Standards of Minority Rights Protection’
As part of the project Etno-Confessional Minorities in Serbia: Challenges and Perspectives of Human Rights, led by Academician Alpar Lošonc, the expert panel titled National and International Standards of Minority Rights Protection will take place on Wednesday, 21 May 2025, at 11 a.m., in Hall 1 of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
A series of panel discussions has been planned throughout 2025 dealing with topics which are of great importance to SASA, including human rights, inclusion, discrimination, promotion the culture of dialogue and tolerance. The goal of these events is to bring together representatives of the academic community and relevant institutions to boost the exchange of ideas and knowledge, which would in the end result in the organisation of a round table in December to commemorate the International Human Rights Day.
The panel ‘National and International Standards of Minority Rights Protection’ will discuss Serbia’s legal framework and its alignment with international standards, the role of institutions such as the Office of the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality in safeguarding minorities from various forms of discrimination and the minority protection laws effectiveness at the local level.
