FOSSILS IN THE ANTHROPOCENE

3-17 October 2024

Author: Professor Branimir Karanović

Through his graphic works of ancient and modern Anthropocene fossilizations, Branimir Karanović raises important, fundamental questions that link art and sciences of the past, transcending them in a general philosophical and biological sense. These are the questions of survival. They are ever-present questions and they are of our concern every day, with every breath we take of polluted air, the disappearance of a tree or a mountain river. Karanović’s comparative squares teach us that we are all connected in nature, and have always been, but they also warn us about the fragility of life and its traces. Today’s garbage and former fossils from Karanović’s graphics strongly warn us, artistically and morally. The only question is whether we will heed the warning and reconsider our very definition of what we deem ‘weeds.’. Питање је само да ли ћемо схватити упозорење и преиспитати сопствену дефиницију корова.
