Exactly one hundred years ago, the Paris-based publishing house De Boccard published a lavishly illustrated study on Serbian medieval architecture titled L’Ancien Art Serbe. Les églises [Ancient Art of Serbia – Churches] from the pen of Gabriel Millet (1867-1953), an eminent French Byzantinist. That book was a result of a field study of monuments in the territory of Serbia, old Serbia and Macedonia in which G. Millet divided the Serbian medieval architecture into three dominant stylistic groups or as he named them schools: Raška school, Serbian-Byzantine school and Moravska school, which is still prevailing in the science.

The principal goal of the exhibition is presentation, evaluation and contextualization of the significance which Millet’s researches of Serbian medieval architecture and art have had, as well as their influence on domestic researchers, primarily G. Millet’s students and associates.
