Lecture of Academician S. Vukosavić ‘Artificial Intelligence Assisted Design’

As part of the lecture series ‘Artificial Intelligence’, Academician Slobodan Vukosavić will give the lecture titled ‘Artificial Intelligence Assisted Design’ at the SASA Grand Hall, on Tuesday, 24 October, at 11 a.m.

Design is our attempt at shaping the material world, to give a concrete, tangible description to our visions and thought experiments. Design is hindered by insufficient awareness, casual goal changes and our cognitive limitations. Although efficient teamwork can contain omissions and oversights, design teams seek to entrust a part of their cognitive attempts to algorithms and computers. Similarly to how industrial robots help humans prevail upon their physical limitations, computers and appropriate algorithms can help them to add on their mental efforts and overcome some of their cognitive limitations. The lecture will present positive experiences in the application of artificial intelligence as a supplement designing tool.

Slobodan N. Vukosavić is a full member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and a full professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade. He conducts his research primarily in the fields of power engineering, energy electronics, digital control and industrial robotics. He has published over 100 scientific papers, four textbooks and seven monographs in the Serbian, English and Chinese languages.  He managed designs of 50 Research and Development (R&D) and industrial projects.
