Online scientific conference on children’s rights

’30 Years of the Implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child – Contemporary Aspects’ is the title of the online scientific conference to be held on 10 December 2020, which is organized by the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts as part of the celebration Human Rights Day.

The Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly resolution on 20 November 1989, has been in force since 1990, and it was ratified in Yugoslavia in 1990 (Official Gazette of SFRJ – International treaties, no. 15/90). This Convention was the first binding document for state-signatories relating exclusively to the rights of a child.

We believe it is extremely important that the scientific public analyses the implementation of the Convention in the 30 year period and answer the question of whether the Convention is being fully implemented. Also, having in mind the development of law, the adoption of new legal institutions, and the development of scientific technologies, especially reproductive ones, the Convention can be interpreted in a new way that corresponds to contemporary conditions of social development. This is another scientific aspect this scientific conference could cover.
