Robotics, neurosciences and surgical medicine for the recovery of motoric functions in handicapped persons

The international scientific gathering, Robotics, neurosciences and surgical medicine for neurorehabilitation, will bring together experts from the fields of technology, medicine and natural sciences, who have achieved remarkable results in the field of reintegration of handicapped persons in normal life. The gathering is held at the SASA Grand Hall and starts on Monday, May 28, at 10 a.m.. One of the outstanding qualities of the participating researchers is their multidisciplinary approach, based on expertise in the fields in which they have been trained.

“Given the topicality of the issue and due to a rise in the number of handicapped persons, SASA is organizing a scientific gathering at which experts from Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia, Spain and Serbia will present the most promising development trends in neurosciences, robotics and surgical medicine. The lecturers are bringing the experience they acquired through their basic, applied and clinical research,” says Academician Dejan Popović of the gathering’s Organizing Committee.

Presented on this occasion will be the most up-to-date knowledge of the capacity of the human nervous system to adapt to conditions and changes caused by aging, disease or injury.

As Academician Popović explains, new technologies and materials facilitate the application of complex treatments and rehabilitation only if they are fully integrated. Today, humanoid robots, new surgical techniques and methods of manipulating sensory-motor faculties lead to a reintegration of handicapped persons in society and the world of production. Data acquired through basic and clinical research are promising, but there are still a number of questions waiting to be answered. The lecturers are experienced scientists, who have critically scrutinized the fruits of the imagination of innovators and the reality that allows for making improvements in the lives of handicapped persons.

The gathering is expected to yield a result in the form of a document that will serve as a basis for joint research conducted by the respective academies of science of the countries represented at the gathering.
