SASA Officials Elected

SASA Officials – the president, two vice presidents and the general secretary who will be at the helm of the Academy for the upcoming four-year term (2023-2027) were elected at the SASA Assembly on Thursday, 30 March.

The Electoral Commission stated t the following: Academician Zoran Knežević was elected the SASA president with 75 votes; Academician Zoran V. Popović was elected a SASA vice-president from among the members of the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Geo Sciences, Department of Chemical and Biological Sciences, Department of Technical Sciences and Department of Medical Sciences with 71 votes; Academician Miodrag Marković was elected with 71 votes as a SASA vice-president from among the members of the Department of Language and Literature, Department of Social Sciences, Department of Historical Sciences and Department of Visual Arts and Music and finally, Academician Nebojša Lalić was elected the SASA general secretary with 62 votes.

In the previously outlined Proposal of the SASA programme of activities, Academician Z. Knežević marked that, while being in the position of the SASA general secretary, he recognized the importance of the Academy staying true to itself, remaining balanced and dignified, but also being ready to rise to the most important challenges of the current moment.

In his address after the elections, the newly-elected SASA President expressed his readiness to support each practical proposal of any SASA member. He reasserted his preparedness to maintain the continuity with the previous period, as well as with the Academy’s tradition and heritage.
