SASA Publication Awarded at the Eighth Festival of Humanities, Culture and Art ’Mind What You Read’
The monograph The Palace of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts by Professor Milan Prosen received the Scientific Contribution Award at the Eighth Festival of Humanities, Culture and Art Mind What You Read, held in December 2025 at the PTT Museum.
As part of its extensive and diverse publishing activities, the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts published the monograph The Palace of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts by Prof. Milan Prosen, along with its English-language edition, within the Special Editions series of the SASA Presidency. The Editor-in-Chief of the edition is the Secretary General of SASA, Academician Nebojša Lalić, while the volume editor was the late Academician Milan Lojanica. The reviewers were Academician Branislav Mitrović, SASA Corresponding Member Igor Borozan, and Dr Marina Pavlović.
In this comprehensive study, Milan Prosen writes both about the architecture of the Palace of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the history of the Academy itself. As a historical prelude, the monograph presents the original premises in which the Academy operated, before guiding the reader toward the current building, erected in 1924 according to the designs of architects and members of the Serbian Royal Academy, Andre Stevanović and Dragutin Đorđević. The study further traces the building’s post–Second World War reconstruction, carried out in 1952 following the designs of architect Grigorije Samojlov, as well as later modern conceptual reconstruction projects.
