Scientific and expert conference ’The Future of Village and Agriculture in Serbia’

The scientific and expert conference titled ’The Future of Village and Agriculture in Serbia: Sustainable Development Structural Issues and Models’ opens at the SASA Grand Hall, on Wednesday, 15 May, at 10 a.m.

This event was directly inspired by the most recent results of the last census of population and agriculture which had been carried out by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia. Strategically speaking, the conference is based on the document ’Nacionalni program za preporod sela Srbije [National Programme for the Renewal of Villages of Serbia] which was the result of cooperation of the Academy Board for Rural Issues and the Cabinet of the Ministry for Regional Development. This document was formally adopted in 2020 and publicly promoted, supported by the President and the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the officials and representatives of traditional religious communities and Matica Srpska, the Cooperative Union of Serbia and Cooperative Union of Vojvodina, as well as many renowned agricultural experts,  cultural begetters and public figures.

By holding this conference, the Academy Board for Rural Issues aims to launch a new series of scientific and expert discussions related to the demographic sustainability of rural regions and economic development and modernization of Serbian agriculture in general, including the upcoming examination of structural and developmental problems of particular branches of agriculture.
