Scientific Conference ‘Black Holes and Chaos’
A three-day international scientific conference titled ‘Black Holes and Chaos’, hosted by the Mathematical Institute of SASA, opens on 4 September, at the SASA Hall 2, at 9.30.
This conference aims to offer a cutting-edge overview of black holes from the point of view of string theory and related fields. The discussions will delve into the properties of black hole microstructure, recent advancements in black hole thermodynamics, black hole solutions in string theory, distinct but related classical and quantum solutions (microstate geometries, fuzzballs, wormholes…), holography and holographic CFTs dual to black holes, matrix model insights in black hole physics…
A key focus of the event will be the exploration of the role of quantum chaos, scrambling, replicas and factorization in the understanding of the black hole information paradox. Since the significant breakthrough in 2019 with the introduction of the replica wormhole/entanglement island framework, the information paradox has become a central topic in modern string theory research. The conference will revolve around the dynamic and chaotic properties of black holes, a rapidly evolving field energized by innovative ideas.
Over the last few years, there has been a surge of scientific effort in Serbia put into the topics covered by the conference, therefore it is expected that bringing together Serbian and international scientists in the field will foster lasting collaboration and help the development of high-energy physics in Serbia and the Balkans.
