Scientific conference ‘Human Rights during States of Emergency’

A two-day scientific conference titled ‘Human Rights during States of Emergency’ opens at the SASA Grand Hall, on Thursday, 8 December, at 10 a.m.

The circumstances which all world countries have faced in the previous two years have imposed the topic of this conference. Analysis of these circumstances provides a chance to put into perspective other reactions and norms introduced by states of emergency throughout history. Challenges all countries have risen to in recent years have resulted in various practices, but the reason was the same. The consequences of these particular circumstances have reflected on human rights (first of all, the right to life) or they are subject to various factual or legally based limitations and restrictions, economy, business, free movement of goods and services; political life (the pandemics affected election processes in the USA, Germany, as well as in several other countries where elections did take place; the work of institutions was more difficult including the communication between institutions and citizens, etc.).
