Scientific conference ’Insects and Ticks as Disease Transmitters in People and Animals’

The scientific conference titled ’Insects and Ticks as Disease Transmitters in People and Animals’ opens at the SASA Grand Hall, on 25 June, at 10 a.m.

Vectors (disease transmitters) are organisms that do not cause diseases themselves but transmit disease-causing agents, thus contributing to their spread. Vector-borne diseases are among the most prevalent global threats. Over 700,000 deaths are caused by vector-borne diseases annually.

Given the current nature of the problem, the lack of awareness of vectors and vector-borne diseases existence in the region of Serbia, as well as the topic’s relevance to both the scientific community and the general public and the fact that Serbia has numerous experts dealing with this issue, the Academy Board for the Study of the Fauna of Serbia has organized this interdisciplinary scientific conference which will see the participation from physicians, biologists, agronomists and veterinarians.
