Scientific conference ’Scholarly Work of Academician Miodrag Jovičić’

To mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Academician Miodrag Jovičić (1925–1999), a two-day scientific conference titled ’Scholarly Work of Academician Miodrag Jovičić’ will be held on Tuesday, 3 June, at 10 a.m. in the Grand Hall of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The event is organized by the SASA Department of Social Sciences in cooperation with the Institue of Comparative Law in Belgrade and the Miodrag Jovičić Foundation.

Miodrag Jovičić represents one of the most influential figures in the 20th century Serbian legal and political thought. He was a student and successor to the work of Slobodan Jovanović and the values he established in Serbian culture. In his wide-ranging work in public law, with his exceptional knowledge, Miodrag Jovicic advocated for the affirmation of modern parliamentary democracy, law-governed state and the rule of law in Serbia.

The scientific conference is conceived to give a multifaceted analysis of Academician Jovičić’s scholarly work and the times in which he lived, as well as his professorship and work at the Institute and in the Academy.

Among the participants are leading scholars whose research focuses on constitutional law and political systems—fields to which Academician Jovičić made his most significant contributions and it will also feature recipients of the Miodrag Jovičić Award, presented by the foundation that bears his name.
