The 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Academician Konstantin Cukić
A scientific conference to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Academician Konstantin Cukić will be held on Thursday, 26 March, at the Grand Hall of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, at 11 a.m.
Konstantin Cukić was the first Serbian economist. He received his doctorate from Heidelberg University and served as a professor and rector of the Belgrade Lyceum. He also served as a minister of finance and acting minister of education in the Government of Prince Mihailo. He was a full member and president of the Society of Serbian Letters.
The event is organised by the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Serbian Fiscal Society.
On the occasion of this jubilee, the Serbian Fiscal Society has published an updated second edition of Konstantin Cukić’s textbook titled ’Finances’, which was first published in 1853. During the conference, this textbook will be discussed, as well as Academician Cukić’s book from 1862 titled ’Economic Policy’, which was presented to the public in its updated form two years ago.
Academician Konstantin Cukić’s life and work will be discussed by Academician Pavle Petrović, SASA Corresponding Member Boris Milosavljević, SASA Corresponding Member Milojko Arsić, Professor Emeritus Dejan Popović, Boško Mijatović, PhD, Professor Gordana Ilić Popović, PhD, and Professor Ekkehart Reimer, PhD.
