The Eighth National Conference on Byzantine Studies

The Serbian Committee for Byzantine Studies, the SASA Board for Byzantine Studies, and the Institute for Byzantine Studies are organising the traditional national conference of scholars in the field of Byzantine Studies. This event, the eighth in the series, will be held from 27 to 29 October 2025 in Belgrade.

The first day of the Conference will take place in the SASA Grand Hall, with the opening scheduled for Monday, 27 October, at 9:30 a.m. The following two days, the conference programme will continue in the Hall of the SASA Audiovisual Archives.

The Scientific Board of the Conference includes: Academician Ljubomir Maksimović, Academician Vujadin Ivanišević (President), SASA Corresponding Member Vesna Bikić, PhD, Bojana Krsmanović, PhD, Srđan Pirivatrić, PhD, Ljubomir Milanović, PhD, Associate Professor Dejan Dželebić, PhD, Maja Nikolić, PhD, Associate Professor Miloš Živković, PhD, Jovana Šijaković, PhD, Bojana Pavlović, PhD, and Miloš Cvetković, PhD.

The Organising Board comprises Srđan Pirivatrić, PhD (President), Bojana Pavlović, PhD, and Miloš Cvetković, PhD (Secretaries).

The Conference will consist of three parts: thematic, general, and discussion. The central topic of the Conference is “The Byzantine Town and Its Heritage.” The general section will cover Byzantine Themes, while the discussion segment will address The Challenges of Contemporary Byzantine Studies.
