XXIII International Symposium Power Electronics

The twenty-third international symposium ‘Power Electronics’ will open on Wednesday, 8 October, at the SASA Grand Hall, at 9 a.m. The event will be held between 8 and 10 October in Belgrade and  Novi Sad.

Power electronics is a branch of electrical engineering dealing with the highly efficient conversion of electrical energy parameters and the management of its flows. Today, there is hardly any segment of power production, transmission, distribution, or use in which power electronic devices and circuits are not involved. Additionally, they are the backbone of electrical vehicles, electrified ship parts, aircraft and spacecraft and autonomous systems. In recent times, they enable the so-called ‘green transition’ by integrating renewable energy sources and energy storage into the electrical grid, as well as the complete concept of smart grids.

The Power Electronics symposium, known by its EE abbreviation, has been held for more than half a century and represents one of the longest-running scientific gatherings in Serbia.

During this period, it went through several developmental stages, having begun as a national council and grown into a top international conference. In its beginning, it was held in large ex-Yugoslav industrial centres. After its dissolution, it continued to be held in Novi Sad, and in recent years, it has started to be held in Belgrade as well. In this long period, it has closely followed developments in this field and showcased the state of science and technology in Serbia and around the globe.

The EE 2025 Symposium will feature 55 scientific papers with 14 introductory and invited lectures, two panels, two industrial presentations, three tutorials and four national symposium papers. It will also present an exhibition brochure encompassing 237 authors from 24 countries.

The symposium will feature a special event – the exhibition ‘125 Years of Power Electronics in the World.’ It is dedicated to continuous power electronics technology development and also honours the role and contributions of some prominent international and domestic scientists. The exhibition was prepared by Academician Professor Slobodan Vukosavić and Professor Vladimir Katić, with the help of Associate Professor Zoltan Čorba, curator Bojana Božić and curator Jasmina Kovačević. It opened on September 22 and can be viewed until 11 October at the SASA Gallery of Science and Technology in Belgrade.

Finally, at the closing ceremony, awards will be presented to the best authors, young researchers, and Serbian contributors, along with special prizes from the company Tajfun HIL for the best scientific papers of the past five years.
