Lecture ’Ivan Jevtić’s Concert Music’

On Wednesday, 19 February, at noon, Professor Sylvie Nicephor of the University of Évry in Paris, the author of the book ’Ivan Jevtić – Composer on Roads of Freedom’ will give a lecture at the SASA Hall 2 exploring the work of Academician Ivan Jevtić, a composer and secretary of the Department of Art of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The author expressed profound admiration for Serbian music in the mentioned publication and brought an overview of Jevtić’s musical creative works encompassing over 100 compositions.

Sylvie Nicephor received her education in the fields of performance, musicology, and dance. She studied solo singing and piano in France and abroad earning degrees in harmony, counterpoint, bassoon and orchestration from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse (CNSMD) in Paris. Her doctoral degree in musicology as well as her master’s in dancing, she received from Université Paris-Sorbonne. She was a multiple winner of scholarships from the Acante Centre for Musical Analysis Studies. She has also gained professional experience with various dance troupes and served as a lecturer on the history of dance for 14 years.

Her works in the field of musicology are dedicated to contemporary music and early 19th-century French music. By blending all her diverse interests and experiences, she currently focuses on musical interpretation topics, as well as the ties between music and dance. She has contributed to journals in France and abroad including La Revue Musicale and the journal of the SASA Institute of Musicology.
