Presentation of the Serbian Institute in Budapest

The SASA Board for the Study of Ethnic Minorities and Human Rights, whose activities are also focused on Serbs outside their homeland, has launched an initiative aimed at encouraging cultural and scientific institutions of Serb communities abroad to present their activities, predominantly those in the fields of science and culture, to specialists and interested audiences in Serbia in order to strengthen cooperation between Serbia and diaspora Serbs. The first such institution to do so is the Serbian Institute in Budapest. Several activities related to the presentation have been planned to take place at SASA.

A presentation of the bilingual publication, Béla Bartók and Serbian Music, and an accompanying concert will take place at the SASA Gallery on Monday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m. Those gathered will be welcomed by Academician Tibor Várady, while SASA Corresponding Member Jelena Jovanović and Mr. Pera Lastić will talk about this publication in more detail. The accompanying concert will feature the Vujičić Ensemble from Budapest. At 10 a.m. on Dec. 11, a round table called “Projects of the Serbian Institute – Topics, Results, Possibilities” will be held at SASA Hall 3. In the first part, research assistants working on the current projects will briefly introduce their work so far and then, along with a number of representatives of various cultural and scientific institutions and specialists whose work is similar to that of the Serbian Institute, they will discuss possibilities for advancing scholarly research (related to subjects of study, organization and methodology) and expanding cooperation with institutions and individuals in Serbia.
