Scientific conference: ’ The Future of Serbian Villages – Demographic Challenges, Development Potential and Prospects for Renewal’

Scientific conference ‘The Future of Serbian Villages – Demographic Challenges, Development Potential and Prospects for Renewal’, organised by the Academy Board for Rural Issues and the SASA Board for the Study of Population’ will open on Saturday, 26 September at 9 a.m. in Gradac, in the municipality of Raška.

Over the past few decades, we have witnessed a rapid demographic decline of the rural population in Serbia. This scientific conference aims to review the existing demographic trends and analyse possible scenarios for the future of the rural population in Serbia. Particular attention will be given to potential solutions that could, to a certain extent, revitalise rural areas in Serbia, as well as to the identification and preservation of their natural and cultural heritage.
